When I received the Gladys Perint Palmer illustrated invite to the
Academy of Arts graduation fashion show I hesitated. Don't get
me wrong this girl loves a fashion show, it was laziness mixed with shear exhaustion trying to convince me to stay home. The obsessed with fashion side of my brain began to think back to New York Fashion Week and the work I loved from the Academy students. Those throwback thoughts overrode my lazy tendencies. Mascara was applied heels were thrown on and the
journey to Hunters Point began. There were several different students that presented and from
each collection there were pieces I would love to incorporate into my
bursting closet. This show gave me an opportunity to connect with a part
of my school I haven't been fully involved with...yet. The impressions made left me honored to be attending a school producing great
talent. Brilliant Suzy Menkes attended and opened the show
with words still echoing loud " This is not just the Academy of Art but
the Academy of imaginative realism."
