Style & Ethics- An Afternoon With Two Ethically Chic Colombian Brands
In Colombia there's a bird that weaves intricate nests that hang like teardrops from branches.
Colombian designer Carolina Velez's brand shares the name of this iconic bird, Oropendola. Velez's macrame handwoven pieces encompass traditional weaving techniques of the region. Oropendola's pieces can be shopped through Noa Trade, including the earrings shot here with Alexandria from SkribbledSkirt. Noa Trade is a Colombian based e-commerce site showcasing merchandise handcrafted by the women of indigenous communities from all over Latin America. Their aim is to operate ethically and work with businesses built on fair trade.
